Origin : Indonesia , Thailand

Flower colour : tiny little orchid like flowers from the base. White with purple lip.

Height : 20 - 25 cm

Tubers : very different, size from 5 to 15cm

Overall information : A very strong smelling ginger, originally used in Indonesia . Galangal tea is absolutely delicious. The root contains a very high percentage of essential oil. These day its mainly used for cooking but in Papua New Guinea it's still used as a hallucinogen. Leaves are in the beginning flat lying on the ground but when the plant matures, they are more upright. (Kaempferia marginata keeps flat on the ground)
